On 12 DECEMBER 2023, fire in sitio Santa Maria, barnagay PUSOK have destroyed over 500 homes housing over 8000 people. The area of fire encompased over 7.5 acres of land and side walls of Island Mall.

Firefighting action was limited to 2 entry points, via Pusok Elementary School, and rthough deconstructed fence on the western side of sitio, bordering MActan Port/Cebu yacht Club. Firefighting units from all over CEBU METRO area were present with prominent role played by units from Mactan International Airport.

Casualities of the fire were fortunatlly limited to 3-4, To be confirmed by ceby SOCO.
